Parallel flange channels, PFC for short, are the British standard hot rolled channels with flat inner flange faces. That flat face is the point: bolts sit square, cleats fit flush, and connections are simpler than with a tapered flange channel. Seen Steel supplies PFC from 100 x 50 up to 430 x 100 in S275 and S355, cut to length and delivered to all seven emirates.

The designation is depth x flange width x weight per metre. Standard length is 12 m.

Why parallel flange
With a tapered flange channel, bolting through the flange means using tapered washers and accepting a bearing surface that is not square. PFC removes that problem, which is why it has largely replaced the old British tapered channel in structural work. It also stacks and packs more neatly for cutting and fabrication.

Channels are drawn in three systems in the UAE. For the European tapered flange profile see UPN channels, and for the Japanese profile see JIS channels. They are not interchangeable: the flange shape and the section properties differ, so check what the drawing actually calls for.

Cutting and delivery
We supply 12 m or 6 m lengths, or cut to your list. Deliveries go to workshops and sites across all seven emirates, including Al Quoz, Jebel Ali, Mussafah, Sajaa, Ajman Industrial and Al Hamra. Mill test certificates are supplied with the material.
