Hot rolled sheet, also called HR sheet or MS sheet, is flat mild steel cut from hot rolled coil into standard size sheets. It is the everyday material for fabrication workshops across the UAE: cladding and covers, brackets, base plates, doors, tanks, ducts and anything that will be cut, bent, welded and painted. Seen Steel supplies hot rolled sheets from about 1.5 mm to 12 mm in the standard sizes below, or cut to your dimensions, delivered to all seven emirates.
Sheet sizes and weights
Standard sheet sizes are 1219 x 2438 mm (4 x 8 ft), 1500 x 6000 mm and 2000 x 6000 mm. Weights below are calculated at 7.85 kg per m² per mm of thickness.

Grades
- Commercial quality: SPHC, SAE 1006/1008 and ASTM A1011 CS, for bending, pressing and general fabrication.
- Structural: ASTM A36, SS400, S235JR and S275JR, where strength is specified.
- Higher strength: S355JR on request for load bearing parts.

Hot rolled or cold rolled sheet
Hot rolled sheet has a mill scale finish and is the economical choice for anything that will be blasted or painted, from about 1.5 mm upward. Below that, and where a smooth surface or tight tolerance matters, cold rolled sheet is the better product. For weather exposed work without paint, use GI sheet cut from GI coil. For floors, steps and ramps, use chequered sheet.

Cutting and delivery
We supply full sheets or cut to your sizes, so you are not paying for scrap. Deliveries go to workshops and sites across all seven emirates, including Al Quoz, Jebel Ali, Mussafah, Sajaa, Ajman Industrial and Al Hamra. Mill test certificates are supplied with the material.

Frequently asked questions
What is the weight of a 4 x 8 steel sheet?
It depends on thickness. A 1219 x 2438 mm sheet weighs about 23.3 kg per mm of thickness, so 2 mm is about 46.7 kg and 3 mm about 70 kg.
What sizes do hot rolled sheets come in?
1219 x 2438 mm, 1500 x 6000 mm and 2000 x 6000 mm are standard. Other sizes can be cut from coil.
What is MS sheet?
MS sheet means mild steel sheet. In the UAE it usually refers to hot rolled sheet in commercial or structural quality.
Where does sheet end and plate begin?
There is no single rule, but in the trade material under about 5 or 6 mm is usually called sheet and thicker material plate. See our hot rolled plates.
Do you supply mill test certificates?
Yes, MTCs are issued with the material.
