European beams cover the IPE, HEA and HEB profiles that appear on most consultant drawings in the UAE. They are hot rolled I and H sections to EN 10025, with parallel flanges that make bolting, coping and cladding straightforward. Seen Steel supplies IPE from 80 to 600, HEA and HEB from 100 to 600, in S235, S275 and S355, cut to length and delivered to all seven emirates.

Weights are per metre for the standard sections. Standard length is 12 m, with 6 m and cut lengths available.

IPE, HEA or HEB: which one
- IPE is a narrow flange I beam, deeper than it is wide. It gives the most bending strength per kilo, so it is the efficient choice for beams, purlins and floor joists that span.
- HEA is a wide flange H section, roughly as wide as it is deep, with a lighter flange. It is the usual column section and works well where a beam needs stability against buckling.
- HEB is the heavier wide flange section, same depth range as HEA with thicker flanges and web. It is used for heavily loaded columns and transfer beams.
A rough rule for equal depth: IPE is the lightest, HEA is around double, HEB more again. Do not swap one for another without the engineer's approval, even when the depth matches.
Grades and standards
- EN 10025-2 for the material, in S235JR, S275JR or S355JR, with J0 and J2 impact grades on request
- EN 10034 for dimensional tolerances on I and H sections

European, British, American or Japanese
The same job can be drawn in four systems. If your drawing calls for a British universal beam, see universal beams. For American W shapes, see wide flange beams. Cutting and delivery
We supply 12 m standard lengths, 6 m, or cut to your list, so a long section does not have to be cut on site. Deliveries go to workshops and sites across all seven emirates, including Al Quoz, Jebel Ali, Mussafah, Sajaa, Ajman Industrial and Al Hamra. Mill test certificates are supplied with the material.

Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between IPE and HEA?
IPE is narrow and deep, and gives more bending strength per kilo, so it suits beams. HEA is wide and about as deep as it is wide, so it suits columns. An HEA of the same depth weighs roughly twice as much as the IPE.
What is the weight of an IPE 200?
22.4 kg per metre, so about 269 kg for a 12 m length.
Is HEB stronger than HEA?
Yes, at the same depth. HEB has thicker flanges and web, so it is heavier and carries more load.
What is the standard length?
12 m is standard, and 6 m is common. We also cut to length.
Do you supply mill test certificates?
Yes, MTCs are issued with the material.
